sticking caliper?
Hey guys, this weekend I jacked up both front wheels to check bearings but upon my inspection I noticed one of my brake pads is wearing at an angle, somehow. Kind of tough to describe but on one pad it is wearing more towards the center of the rotor (less thickness) than it is towards the outside of the rotor (more thickness). I spun the rotor and it took quite a bit of effort to spin it. When I put the tire back on it still took quite a bit of effort to spin it with the tire on. I'd spin the tire hard and it spun freely for about 2 seconds before it stopped. I have been noticing break squealing while driving around town without the brakes on so I'm thinking my caliper is on it's way out. The other side spun a little easier and the pads look normal. Do you guys agree? As far as I know, these are oem calipers with 155k on them so I'm thinking it's time?
Jack it back up, pull the tire.
Step HARD on the brakes. Then try and spin the tire. (foot of the brake....)
Turns hard? Open the bleeder valve. Try and turn it again.
If it now spins fairly easily, replace the soft line to that caliper. (or, replace both front lines...... they both exist in the same environment, so, if one is bad, chances are good, the other isn't too far behind.)
Also check the mounting for the caliper, and that it can slide freely on the mounts.

That is some great advice! I've got my other pickup in the shop now so it'll have to wait it's turn to get back in there. I did look at the soft lines and they appear to be fine, no cracking and signs of collapsing etc. Maybe some lube on the slides of the caliper might help it?

My lines looked perfectly fine too, but, were indeed collapsed internally.
