Lightbulb Can the TV cable go bad?

Hey everyone, after all the help I received with my brake problem (now fixed!) I figured I would see I someone can steer me in the right direction of a high shifting problem I am having. I noticed that originally i would **** out of 1st at about 2500rpm and second about the same. This lasted about a week now it's about 3500rpms. My question from researching this is, is it possible for my Throttle valve cable to be worn out causing me to shift so high? Or could it possibly be the pressure solenoid? Does anyone know a way to test the cable or solenoid?

Thanks

Easiest to check the cable, and see if it is simply binding, and holding the throttle valve open, when it really shouldn't be. Just check to see if there is any slack in the cable at the throttle body. If there is, free up the cable, or replace it.

Okay so I replaced the pressure solenoid, governor solenoid and the tranny filter, without any change except that it is back to shifting at 2500 rpms. My TV cable didn't seem to have any slack so I'm still stuck. I don't have an issue throwing a tranny in it I just don't want to do it if there is another option that will fix it or that it really isn't a problem in the tranny. I've been reading a lot of transmission posts and there haven't been too many solution threads most just stop posting what ended up happening. So Any ideas?

Next step would be to either plug a scanner in, and see what the PCM thinks pressures are doing, and plug a mechanical gauge into it as well, to see what pressures are ACTUALLY doing.... and see if the two readings agree.

Also wouldn't hurt to see what TPS is doing as well. PCM will modulate shift points, depending on how hard it THINKS you are stepping on the go-pedal.

I recently adjusted my TV cable, or tried to. When I removed the slack (but not snug) it was doing the same thing. I ended up putting in about 1/8" slack. Try it.

Also, there is a light-duty return spring on the cable at the transmission end. Make sure it's there and hooked up.

Okay great thank you for the tips I'll check them when I get the truck back. I was driving it the other morning and all of the sudden my hood latch let go causing my hood to fly up. Lucky for me the PO never did the recall and now Dodge is replacing the latch, hood and hinges on a 18 year old truck for free!
