2008 CD Radio in a 1998
Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum. I am moving up a little bit in weight category. I am leaving my 1993 Dodge Dakota 4x4 that has served me very well for 11 years and moving into a 1998 Ram 2500 4x4. I am hoping to get the same luck I had with the Dakota as it truly was/is a great truck. It is going to spend the rest of it's years at my work as a parts runner. ( I just can't bear to sell it.).
My question is will a 2008 Ram Factory Stereo "bolt in" in a 1998 Ram radio spot? I have a chance to get on pretty cheap but unsure if it will fit. Has anyone tried this? Are the factory plugs still the same?
Thank you in advance for your time.

I doubt the plugs are still the same..... that would be most unlike an auto manufacturer not to change something that works perfectly well.
Best bet would probably be to talk to a stero shop, or some such, and see if they can look it up for you. If nothing else, if it will physically bolt into the same hole, there might be adapters for the wiring, or, you can just get pinouts of the connectors for both years, and repin the ones that will fit. Tedious, but worth it.
Welcome to DF.

I am somewhat sure that it's a no-go. But if you want a radio/cassette/CD player that is a direct bolt-in factory piece, check out this unit at ReplacementRadios.com (in whom I have no interest at all, don't know 'em and haven't bought that radio yet myself).
May 10,2016 I used the link UnregisteredUser posted and called they had 3 now 2 OE used Radio/Cassette/CD left. Thanks for posting that. I have looked for many hours over the last couple years with no luck. A bit expensive $#249.99 but ground shipping is free.
