Keep it away from idiots that are mad at you, when the intake is off........

 

and once you get that pan out make sure to un dimple the pan flange before putting the gasket on, that and over tightening of the bolts is what causes most of them to leak

 

Just a fyi, If you do need to lift the motor you can do it with a floor jack and a piece of wood. I had to replace my freeze plugs and one is under the motor mount.

 

My Haynes manual says to lift the engine to get clearance to remove the oil pan, so that's what I did when I had to replace my rear main seal.

Recently I've removed my oil pan without the lift, no problem on a 1995 5.2L. Kinda pissed me off that Haynes wrote that crap, it was someone on the plenum post that mentioned the removal not needing a lift...
