Yep. Should bolt right in. If you are going from auto to manual though, you will need other parts as well. They also need to be the same drive line. (2 or 4 wheel drive.)
94-95 pretty much anything. 96-97, pretty much anything, 98-01, again, pretty much anything...... Now, between the three groupings, pretty much nothing in the way of electronics as related to the engine.
What years are the trucks you are looking at?

Nope. 98 or 99 should work though. I am not sure when the trans temp sensor changed though, it *might* have been 99, but, I *think* it was 2000.... Keep in mind, no matter what you get, it will have to be flashed to the correct VIN, or ABS and SRS won't work. (and will whine about it.)
