Dome mirrors and cargo light not working
Bought a 99 ram 1500 4x4 and the center dome light, the cago light and the power mirrors will not work. AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS I.O.D. FUSE ITS NEW AND HAS POWER! The map light will work, windows and locks are fine. Need this to pass an inspection so need these to work for at least an hour!
Up here in northern Canada our **** retentive vehicle inspection rules state if the vehicle came with it it must work regardless of if it affects safety, i.e. the dome light. Its just a money grab by the government run insurance corporation.
Tell the inspector you got the optional ejection seat, and ask if he would like to try it out.
Fuses is the first thing to check. If your mirrors don't do anything at all, check the connector for the switch. Make sure you have the tool for removing door panels though, as the little clips hand on excessively tight, and are more likely to destroy the door panel, as come loose.....

I have 97 also with a working mirror switch so I tested, took the working one and plugged into the connector with still no results. Eliminates the switch. So, where to look now? I am wondering about a burned out bulb in say the kick panel? Would that shut down the citcuit?
Get out your test light or meter. All three get power from Fuse 12 thru Connector 203-pin 5 and Splice 310.
The seatbelt control module gets power thru the same path. Is it working?
Both dome and cargo lights get ground thru the headlight switch.
Need to find out if you're missing power or ground or both. Check at the lamp sockets for 12 volts and ground.
When we get power to the lights, the mirror problem will probably be solved.

The seatbelt control module does what exactly? I do see a couple connectors under drivers seat unplugged but didn't see what they plugged into. And where would a fella find connector 203 or splice 310?
