Default Code P1762....

So I was having trouble with my son's truck not shifting right. Was not throwing any codes except the IAC controller code....(which is another ongoing problem) i replaced the governor solenoid and pressure switch and replaced fluids. Truck still does the same thing shift wise. Driving in D the truck seems to start in second. It will not go into first unless I go to neutral first and them manually put it in 1, then I can manually shift through the gears. After replacing the stuff now I get the P1762 code, which I did not get before. After replacing the stuff I reset PCM and the IAC code went away and the new code started, even if I erase code comes right back after start up....i read that it may be the 02 sensor before the cat so I unplugged that and reset but still came up. I did not drive with it unplugged though. Any thoughts?

P1762 Gov Press Sens Offset Volts Too Low or Hi

That will put the trans in limp mode. (starting off in second, and probably never shifting out of it...) Either got a bad sensor, or the wrong one.

They looked the same, exactly the same to me. There is a chance I didn't plug it in all the way or something maybe. Was doing the same shifting before I changed it and had no code. I thought it could be limp mode from what I read...I might just take it somewhere and have them check it...this truck is driving me crazy

You might still have this problem. These trucks seem to be touchy about their sensors.

Pulled pan again and checked it all, put back and the code is gone but still in limp mode. My IAC code came back though..505 I believe. AAMCO wants $360 just to pull pan and check it out. I don't think I have a choice at this point though.

Question

Don't want to interfere here, but are you sure that all the error codes are being shown? Some codes can't be discovered by low end code readers.
Did Aamco pull the codes? If all that is there is an IAC code, why do they want to tear into the transmission?

That was a quote I got before I redid the pan, when I still had the code. I have a good reader. I took truck in and they pulled the codes and said it was there, maybe driving it there made it pop up. It is out of my hands now, have to see what they say.

Sorry, I missed the part about being in limp mode in post #5.

Pupuslinger, I am struggling with the same issue you are having. Was Aamco able to solve it for you? What was the solution?
