Default Cruise control

I have a 01 ram manual transmission. Is it possible to install cruise control and just change the steering wheel. I have looked on you tube for how to install and I've seen videos for extra and that's the expensive route. I'm hoping I can just switch the steering wheel and connect pre existing cables or something to that effect. Is it possible and how. Also I have issues switching to overdrive and loosing power anywhere from 5-10 mph even when I'm staying steady on the gas pedal. Is it possible I'm losing power in the plug wires/distributor cap?

Have you fixed your plenum yet?

You should be able to add cruise to your truck, I am sure the manual trans trucks had it as an option. Gonna be a bit different because you have a manual trans though. (clutch switch, as well as brake switch) If you don't already have one, grab a service manual from the faq section here.

What do u mean fix the plenum and no I haven't. I ran a bunch of sea foam through the system and I need to get wires/cap/rotor done. So the wires all should be there I just need to connect to em all as far as the cruise control?

Most of the time...... it seems that Dodge only had one flavor of wire harness for the trucks, that had almost every possible connector for whatever options your truck may, or may not... have had. No idea if that includes cruise control or not. Finding a manual trans truck that had cruise would be your best bet, and scavenging parts from that. (steering wheel, various switches, cruise servo, etc.) I don't know if the clockspring is different or not. Would be something to look at.

Read the Plenum thread stickied at the top of this forum. Very enlightening, and will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about the plenum issue.

Top of the tech forum. It's a stickied thread, "End all, Be all, plenum thread."
