Default 02 O2 sensors in 01

Just tried to change the O2 sensors on my 01 and found out I don't have 01 O2 sensors. I have 02 O2 sensors. Just wondering if this is common. How does this affect the rest of my wiring harness? My computer?

It's a late model 01 (01 model production began around the end of October '00). '02 Model change-over began in August '01. It's possible that they had already begun to switch over to 02 parts/wiring. Even though the 3rd gen began in 02, some of the components were still the same as the 2nd gens. Things like this happen sometimes in the automotive industry.

So what does this mean for the future of repairs etc? How much of the rest of my wiring harness would be 02? It doesn't seem like they would put 02 O2 sensors on an 01 wiring harness. I guess I'm just wondering since I know I have to buy 02 O2 sensors now, how much other 02 stuff will I have to get? Or will it just be trial and error?

you may or may not have 3 cats on there, if you do, you have an o2 sensor for each bank. then you have another after the cat to monitor the cat's effeciency. If the cats get plugged, swapp them out asap or you run the risk of having a burnt valve seat on the exhaust for #7 & 8 cylinders.

if you only have 1 cat... damn your lucky! I have 3! and it sucks!

3 cats huh? I was just thinking that sounds like a CA truck, than I noticed your location. Sorry about that. 1 cat only here. Just had it replaced with a magnaflow.

One of the problems i already face is if i want to replace my o2 sensors, i have to buy the 02 versions. Which conveniently cost about twice as much as the 01 versions. Super!
