Default V10 flywheel the same as diesel?

Me and my dad are replacing the clutch in his truck.

97 2500 V10 ~350000miles

We went look al around town for a new fly wheel and napa had a full kit but no information on what engine it fits, all their computer says is that it fits 2500 and 3500 models. So we decided to order it.

It came in today and we opened it, it came with an accesorie bag that says starter adapter for CumminsTD for 13" flywheel upgade.

will this 13 in flywheel fit the v10

Wow, those ARE fun to find.... Rock Auto doesn't even list one...... Might have to check the used market..... Is your current one beyond salvage?

The 2001 parts manual shows different flywheels for the v10 and cummins. 2 different flywheels for the cummins. 1 for the standard duty and the other for the HO.

If it helps you any, the Mopar number for the 01 V10 flywheel is 53006216AC.

Which has been discontinued.
How many teeth on the ring gear? Just curious if a viper flywheel would work. I think viper flywheels have 152 teeth, if I'm remembering what I looked at earlier correctly.

We were hoping to replace it, it has 350k+ miles and it has been turned twice, im not sure how many times you can lathe a flywheel.

as for the teeth i think there are 143,

Is there a spec for minimum thickness??

I would expect, that depending on how much material was removed each time.... (were the rivets on the clutch plate digging into the flywheel surface?) it's is likely just fine to clean up, and re-use...... May not get a choice in the matter.....

That said, a fair few places list it, some say discontinued. Trick might be to give them a call, and see if anyone actually has one available. Right around 325 seems to be the going rate though.

Is the 8.0 internal balance? If it is, and is 143 teeth on the ring gear it might be the same as what I just bought for my 408, ASSuming the v10 has the same crank bolt pattern.

Here is a link to the one I bought from amazon. Don't know if it's right for you, but I hope it helps.

No the 8.0 is external balanced, but that does give me an idea, the 5.9 is also external balanced, if they have the same crank bolt pattern i could drop the v10 flywheel and the 5.9 flywheel off at the mechine shop and have it spin balanced to the 8.0 one.

Good idea. The one I linked is neautrally balanced. It would be a good candidate for getting balanced to your 8.0.

I know there is a pattern out for the 5.9 that is used to balance the flywheel. It literally just sits on the flywheel and shows the tech where to drill and how deep. Maybe there is something like that for yours also.
