Default 46re 2nd gear funky

Hey yall, new here but here goes. I got a 97 2500HD, 4x4, 5.9L V8, 46RE, standard cab 8ft box. Love this truck, more than life itself and i hate having problems but that comes with anything. But something new is happening and didnt happen gradually. One day it didnt, next drive it did. Truck had transmission rebuild at roughly 75k, currently has 102k (planning on fluid+filter change anyway). Truck shifts into drive fine, slight clunk, but goes, now it goes into second at a higher rpm than before, now in 2nd, i need roughly 45-50mph and basically 3krpm for it to shift into 3rd. 3rd gear on is fine, shifts fine. Now if im in 4th or in overdrive and slow down to under 50mph, truck slams into 2nd and throws you forward in the seat, doesn't matter downhill, flat, or uphill, once i get below 50, it grabs 2nd gear. This is really getting on my nerves and worrying me. Does anybody have any clue as to why my truck may be doing this? Any help is appreciated and welcomed.

Change fluid and filter, install a drain plug in the pan, (as I suspect you may need to be in there again....) and adjust the bands. Procedure is in the service manual. (which you can download from here.) See if that doesn't improve its attitude at all.

yep, i agree with HeyYou, sound like the bands weren't adjusted properly. id take it back to the tranny shop you had it rebuilt at, it might still be under warranty. for now just take it easy on the truck, no lead footing or harsh driving. also when you change the fluid, go to the parts store and get a bottle of LubeGard. its a red bottle. its an additive for the fluid that keeps tranny cooler, helps the clutch bands grab better, and is good for the torque converter as well. The mechanics i know swear by it, helps to prolong the life on the clutches inside. i put it in mine every fluid change. and my tranny is from a salvage with 180K on it now with no problems. you can add it to any fluid type except cvt trannys or ford type f. heres the link: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/l...FQQbaQodnSAOfg
