Mystery oil consumption and smoking
My truck blows thru just about a quart of oil in 100 miles.... Yeah, it is seriously excessive. I don't drive a lot, so, I just watch my oil level. Thing is, the truck does NOT smoke. Nor does it leave spots on the ground under the truck. I get a puff at first start up, but, then it clears, and no more smoke. If I get hard on the gas, it *might* smoke... Rather hit and miss there...... I haven't done a compression test yet. Quite frankly, I just don't wanna know.....
I am collecting money/parts to go thru the spare engine I have on the stand... just haven't gotten there yet.

Sounds like you ran through a tank of gas. Maybe really bad gas. Or was it smoking with a previous tank full too?
Barely smoked before and that was under extreme type circumstances trying to get it to (wanted to make sure the airgap fixed it). It was smoking still after the airgap but was slowly going down, then bam lots of smoke this last week then yeah I guess I filled gas a couple days ago an now its gone. All my plugs were fine, maybe it was some crap fuel, or it was washing the carbon and oil of intake runners still? My intake runners were coated with a think layer of crap from the plenum. I'm lost still. I'm just gonna monitor the consumption for now. Its about 1/4qt every 3000 miles which at 161k I'm not gonna worry about. It used to be 3qts every 2500 miles.
