Default 46re Transmission - Broken spacer ring

Hi all,
I am in the process of rebuilding my 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 transmission. Everything was going smooth, until I discovered the spacer ring in the rear clutch section was snapped off a piece about 2" long. Even though, all the parts were rotating smoothly, but I want to replace it.
Here is my problem, I don't know how to remove the old ring, as it is wedged in the groove between the piston spring and ???.
Any idea how remove this ring?
I attached two photos so you guys can see what I am talking about. One of the photo that has 2 yellow arrows that shows where the ring snapped off.
Thanks
Jack

Thanks much for the response.
Do you have any suggestion or instruction of how to compress the piston spring, which I assume it is?
...or should I just look for a transmission shop for this job?
Thanks again.

There are some pics of tools that folks here have made around here somewhere...... There are also some tutorials on rebuilding the 46RE trans out on the web, with some really good pics, including the tool. If you have some fab skills, you could prolly make your own, otherwise, think I would just take the O/D section to the local trans shop, and have them pull the snap ring for ya.

Welcome to DF!

Thanks so much for info.
This video is exactly what I need. Now it's time to find the way to compress it down.
Thanks again

By the way, anyone can give the name of the broken ring and the part number.
I've tried to search for the spacer ring, and there is no luck.
Thanks much again in advance.

In the faq section, there is a stickied thread with parts manuals as well.
