Running Hot 2000 Ram V10
Thought I should close this out.
Thanks to Heyyou and all the others that gave great advice.
FIX
1. 190* thermostat helped but still got hot on the long pull
2. Fan clutch. BINGO that did it.
I can here the fan engage at about 200* It really comes on strong and LOUD at 205.
On the long pull once the fan is engaged full on, the temps start to drop from 210 to 200 in about 30 sec.. even when I am still on the climb
It drops to 195 when I hit the top. The clutch is engaged for about a mile then back to normal
On the flat and rolling hills it stays at 190 plus or minus a few degrees.
Other minor fixes. Flushed the water/coolant 3 times.. Cost a bit. The first flush did nothing. No more brown dirt color in the coolant. I used a flush product each time. Ran water into the radiator with engine running until it drained clear.
Added a qt of a 'coolant' helper product. Not sure if it works ?? but it was not costly.
Again thanks for all the help.
