So the only way that pickup has a 5.9 and a 5 speed are if they either swapped a 5 speed into a 1500 with a 5.9 or swapped a 5.9 into a 1500 with a 5 speed.
Not a factory option.
My money's on it being a 5.2 with an NV3500

Half tons have the Dana 44 up front, and corporate 9.25 in the rear. That particular 2500 will have Dana 60's front and rear. MUCH stouter axles, but, also, 8 lug...... Rear is also a full-floater, orders of magnitude stronger than the corporate axle. If it is the same body configuration as yours, then it's a pretty straightforward swap. Will need the spring hangars off the frame for the rear, as the springs are wider on the 2500, front is almost a direct swap. Things will bolt right up. Use the T-case, and driveshafts out of the 2500 as well. Plus, you get the bonus of an NP241 t-case. (and if you are really lucky, it'll be the HD version as well.)
I would evaluate the condition of both trucks, and then build the one in the best shape. Combine all the best parts from both, onto the best body. Have one nice ride when you are done.
