or just put a hole in the hood and stick a velocity stack on it. actually shape or size can have more effect on performance than material. best bang for your buck is salad bowl and filter lid.

Here's some good info derived with 250k+ specialized test equipment: https://nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.html
they don't even help the engine perform any better than a stock filter. the K&N ones seem like a real waste of money for what they are.

Did you watch the video? Faster times don't equal performing better?

True but did you look up who makes the filter element in the CAI's? What are they filtering? This is all part of the smoke and mirrors that they give you to spend your money on a cold air intake. And my truck had a K&N filter when i bought it at 60K It now has 240K. There is a cleaner and oil you need to apply every so often to keep it working efficiently so to each his own i guess.

In our case here, we are talking about trucks though. Do you really care if you shave a couple hundredths of a second off your quarter mile time? CAI systems on these trucks are only effective in the higher RPM ranges, where they actually spend very little time. Considering the amount of money they want for some of these systems, I can't think of any circumstances at all, where they would be cost-justifiable. (aside from 'looks cool'..... but, that is the absolute lowest priority on my truck.....)

and a salad bowl bolted to the engine with filter lid can help you gain extra power... i would also assume that would make a vehicle faster. not just the filter itself. the filter really doesn't effect thing especially a CAI.
