Default Ram 1500 360 build

Hi, I am looking for some opinions on the set up I am looking to run. My ram is in the garage and torn down to the short block. I have been stock piling some parts and would like to get started on the install. My last quest is Heads and Cam. I have some in mind and would really appreciate any thoughts or comments on what to expect. Here are the parts I have so far:

Mopar MPI intake 2BBL
Harland Sharp RR 1.7 Ratio
Mopar double roller timing chain
high flow water pump
TCP electric fan set up
MSD coil/wires
Accel cap/rotor
Pacesetter Long tube headers (ceramic)
Pacesetter y-pipe

As far as heads go I was looking at hughes EQ Iron heads. Not sure of 2.02 or 1.92 intake valves. I was looking at 2 cams, Hughes 0814-10 or comp cams 20-602-9. They are not that far off. I am not looking to build a 6500rpm screamer. I would rather not lose all my low end grunt. I am really searching for more broader power with a bit more on top. I intend to get a 52MM TB (Fastman) and a tune. I purchased the 1.7 Rocker arms before I changed my plans, but I think I could maybe use them with the comp can grind. Any opinions on this? Again, i would greatly appreciate the feedback. Thanks again, here are the cam Profiles

HUGHES
208 int/214 exh @50
110 LSA
.523 int/ .533 exh

COMP CAMS
205 int/ 210 exh @50
112 LSA
.480 int/ .512 exh

Nice collection of parts! Careful with the MOPAR Double Roller, I've got the same chain, and the crankshaft sprocket has 2 dots on it, one big and one tiny tiny dot. You need to align with the tiny dot...

Tell us about your truck. What year is it? 2WD or 4WD? If it's OBD1 it may limit your tuner options (you'll need one). And it's it's 4WD you'll probably have to clearance your long tube headers to clear the front axle.

1.6 rockers would be better for you, don't want to mis-guide you there.

I think that cam should be fairly torquey.

Go with the 1.92 heads, you'll get more grunt that way. Might have them ported. Get the 1 piece valves too. Should be able to get heads from Clearwater or Odessa, you can find them on Ebay. Give them a call and give them your cam specs and they can match the springs on the heads to your cam.

Thanks for the replies, I completely forgot to give the truck specifics. Its a 2001 Ram 1500 4WD Off Road Edition 4.10 gears 33" tires. Thanks for the tip on the timing gears. I didnt even look at them yet but im sure I would have had to ask about that. Bastards! Thanks for the PICs. It sucks that I have the rocker arms already, they are brand new in the box yet, but plans change. I figured if I got a cam I wouldn't be using them. I just cant have the engine this torn down and not go the extra step. I just dont want to throw parts at it Im trying to make it all work together. I was leaning towards the 192 heads, I dont think Im going to be able to make full use of the 2.02 since Im not really looking to rev to high. Is odessa or clearwater the same as Hughes? I get skeptical of ebay stuff. Out of the two cams you think the comp would work best? I know that the MPI 2BBL and better head that can flow along with LT headers will push me a bit up in RPM range for torque, I would like to balance that with a cam if possible. So Im down to the two listed above and this one I came across. Browsing the forums seems like people like it alot.

Comp Cams 20-745-9 (strong towing cam)

212 int/ 218 exh @50
114 LSA
.480 int/ .480 exh

Again, if anyone has any Experience with any of these cams and can provide some feedback I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks again

You're welcome.

Yes, go with the Comp Cams, and yes, the Clearwater / Odessa heads are the thicker castings, and they sell EQ heads as well. Most people here who have replaced their heads got them from Clearwater.

I think the 112 LSA cam would lower your powerband down slightly in RPMs, better for low end torque. See if anyone else agrees first though.

I'm looking at a Comps-Cam 20-744-9 (206/212@.050" .480"/.480" 112°LSA) to work low to mid rpm's.
If you used 1.7's with this you'd be at .512" lift... this would need better springs.

I second the 1.920" intake valves for low end.

Sorry I went rogue for a week lol. So on top of the pile of crap I already have I just placed the order from Hughes engines. This is what I got:

EQ Iron Ram Heads W/ 1.92" INT, 1.620" EXH & 1110 SPRING
Cam Dex adjustable timing chain (returned the mopar)
Head bolts ARP
Manifold bolts
Misc ****

Still deciding on a cam. The comp cams 262hr or 264hr

They are close

264HR
.512 int/exh .
duration 210/220 @50
112 LSA

262HR
480 int/.512exh
206/210 @50
112 LSA

So the combo is heads, Mopar MPI 2BBL, 52mm TB and Long tube Headers.
Any further opinions? Again I dont want to kill the low end completely. Between the manifold and headers I am already losing a bit and just want to offset it with a good cam and make it worth it.

Spillage where is that cam (20-744-9) on Comp Cams website, I cant find it. That might be the better option cause I can keep my 1.7s and It would be like the a cross between the 264HR and 262HR. Thanks again for the help and patience. I really only want to do this once.
