Default 2001 ram cummins turbo boost pressure

I need advice. I have a 2001 ram cummins diesel that I have had intermittent trouble with for about 3 years. I have a turbo boost pressure gauge so I can watch the pressure. There are times when I accelerate from stop and have no power and pressure indication, until I punch the accelerater down then the boost pressure shoots up and it takes off, but the pressure will not go below 10 psi on the gauge. When it is like this and I accelerate at higher road speeds the boost pressure goes up to extremely high numbers and will not drop below the 10 psi. If I stop the truck and shut it off, many times it will reset the gauge and the pressure will drop and it will work normally. When this happens, it sets a code of 0237 and a check engine light. Most of the time the boost pressure works as it should by going up under acceleration and increased load, then going back down to zero or near zero. I have changed the MAP sensor 3 times and rewired a new connector for the sensor, but still keep having intermittent problems. Could it be a bad ECM or waste gate? Any advice would be very much appreciated. I am at wits end. Thank you.

Where are you getting your sensor from? May be that the truck just doesn't like that brand...... Might try getting one from the dealer..... More expensive, but, more likely to work.

The sensor is an OEM Cummins part

The gauge works fine. When it reads 0 turbo boost the truck has no power when you accelerate. If you boot it down hard, it seems like something breaks free and the truck takes off and the gauge reads O.K. then.

Only if it is stuck open, I would think.....

In all reality, I know very little about diesels, there is a diesel section here, or, there is the Cummins forums...... Might have better success there. I don't think we have too many members with the oil burner.....
