Default Heater system

Trying to get my truck ready for winter.....warmed the engine up and started the heater. Nothing but room temperature pouring out of it. Its not leaking on the floorboard when the thermostat opens so I know it's not cracked(dealt with that on another truck in the past). I've seen videos of flushing the core out in reverse of normal flow and it in clogs it. By then my dad who is a Ford owner for years and taught me to be the hobby mechanic I am said there's a valve that u can open and close to bypass the core but didn't know if dodge has that or not. Any input would be appreciated

Most likely this is your issue: http://www.heatertreater.net/magento...ram-95-02.html

I bought one for my truck, but just need to take the time to install it.

Truck info might help, The link above works on the newer rams without a cable operated blend door.

No diverter valve on the dodge heater core. It is a constant flow system.

Newer meaning 98 and up. That's when i think they stopped using the cable to adjust heat.

You should check yours to ensure its broken, but its highly likely.

According to the web page noted above, 2nd gen trucks from 1995 - 2001 use the electronic style motor to operate the blend door in lieu of the cable that was in earlier year trucks.

It was cable operated thru 99, 00 and up trucks got the little electric motor.

Easy to see which system you have, just to be sure. Take a look under the dash at the heater box. If there is a little box just to the passenger side of the trans tunnel, that's for the temp door. No little box means cable operated.
