Default Dark areas in new headlight install

Just installed new headlights with Sylvania ultras and the brightness is night and day compared to old headlights.

However there are dark spots in the light beam. Does it look like the beams are crossed causing the dark spots or is this a defect in headlight housing?

Appreciate any feedback.

Oem replacement or aftermarket design? You probably need to adjust the beam pattern.

I had a jacked up beam pattern when I had some clear aftermarket lenses. I am now back on my stock lenses.
Is the paint on the end of the bulb even and just on the tip or did it run down the bulb a little? The bulb shouldn't give you a funky beam pattern unless it's cocked to one side in the housing or the paint on the tip is running down the side blocking all of the light from hitting the reflector.

I have aftermarket lenses that give a less severe looking spread than that. I also had to use many plastic spacers and washers to get them to align right. So I would guess its probably the housing not the bulbs. For headlights OEM replacements are best, and make sure to keep them waxed to protect against oxidation.

I've seen aftermarket headlights that looked like you were shining a light through a prism. Weak lighting with a rainbow effect on the road. Who knew you can make headlight assemblies that cheap and get away with it.
