I took my cats off of other trucks, just hack saw it off and put a pipe in place, just have the shop weld it for you. All they are doing is welding so no leaks.

If you have the truck tuned up nice and all it should pass emmissions unless the engine light pops on due to 02 sensor. Ive never had an issue.
If it doesn't pass, get a new high flow cat.... if youre looking to make noise add a cutout on it.

Yeah I took off the sensor and then 5 minutes later the check engine came which it means it's working. But my truck is a 95 so it has Obd so I can't tune my truck which sucks. I have to figure out something quick. I would really like to just put a pipe there or hollow it out but we'll see what happens.

Why not just replace it with a magnaflow?

They do sell 02 deletes.... basically screw it in and the 02 into that and its done... it has a circuit that fools the computer, OBD passes every time unless the delete goes bad. A buddy runs them on his cars. A little pricey but they work.

My cat was rattling so I gutted it last night. Was broken into 3 pieces and plugging my exhaust. Put about 150 miles on it so far and it hasn't set a code. Plugged my scanner in and watched the sensor voltages too. They're switching back and fourth like they're supposed to. I will say though that I really don't care for the way it sounds. Eventually ill be putting in a high flow cat. I pretty much only gutted it because I could feel a definite loss in power and my fuel mileage tanked from the exhaust being plugged up.

I'm sure thats whats wrong with mine too, after burning 5qts oil every few tanks of fuel due to a bad plenum gasket. Ill figure out what Ill do after this month. If its clamped I may just gut it for time being, if welded Ill either buy a high flow or straight pipe it.

The spark plug non-fouler trick works fine, and costs less than $10.

Does anyone know the part number or thread size needed?

Its an m18 thread I believe. Just type o2 extender in eBay and they come up. Your cel might not even come on. Mine hasn't on my 99 and I've driven close to 600 miles since I gutted my cat.
