Thermostat changed, no heat
Hey,
I have a 2002 = 2500 5.9l Gas engine. I changed the thermostat (195 degree) since I was getting no heat. I Refilled the coolant system and now have no heat and the engine is running cool. The upper radiator hose has coolant in it but will not pressurize. I have also cleared the heater core thinking that may have something to do with it.
Any help will be graciously accepted!!!
Thanks, EB

Need to burp the cooling system. It is a real bear to get all the air out of the heater core..... Need to park at a pretty high angle, to get the radiator to be the highest point in the cooling system. (currently, the heater core is.....)
If the engine isn't coming up to temp, chances are you got a bad thermostat. Don't bother with the safety stats, the fail far to easily. Get a Stant Super stat.

Thanks Hey You. As I review this forum I see that its a very common probably with the Dodge's. I bought this truck from an elderly neighbor (original owner) who babied it, just seems to have a few minor issues.
I will park in the driveway tomorrow (which has s steep incline) but will also chock and jack up the front end to try and get all of the air out, I'll also check the heater blend door, That seem to be a very common issue with this truck.
It was also a super stat thermostat I used. I just wish that I had drilled it prior to installation.
Thanks again and I'll let you know how I make out.

Okay, I've burped (or attempted) the system three times to no avail. Removed the blend door motor and found the door to be operating correctly. Could it be that the water pump is not performing to its rated capacity?

Those older truck radiators I believe had a lower hose outlet that was about 4+ inches above the bottom of the radiator. I have seen many of these develop deposits packed inside that lower portion all the way across.
Get some temp measurements across it when you think it's warmed up all the way.

Thermostat is in correctly. The truck runs just below the 210 degree mark on the gauge, if its reading correctly. Just took it on a hour drive and still no heat. All hoses are under pressure and what seems like an equal temp.
Ready to set it fire to get some heat!!!!!!
