ok so it IS the new 552 relay then... And so with LED tail lights it appears I need the new 552 relay since the resistor isn't working without it. So it appears that if I go with LED tail lights, I will never get that nice feature to work again??

Or do you think I should remove the resistors from LED, go back to the 224 relay and try that? Maybe the tail lights will work without resistor and old 224 relay? Or perhaps I will just get that rapid flashing that some people talk about with LED since I will be removing the resistor... I couldn't find a 224 LED compatible relay. Only 552.

Pull the resistors if they didn't come with them. Go to Autozone and get an electronic relay for $8 and you should be done. I put a set in my Ram a couple months back and they light up but flashed super fast. I pulled out my relay and walked into AutoZone and said I need an electronic one of these. I went out and made sure it fit and then tried the flashers. They were no longer going fast and were normal like before.

The electronic flashers don't need a load "light bulbs or resistors in you case" to flash. That is done by an electronic timer. GET ONE AND BE DONE WITH IT!

If you still need more watch this.

That video just explained my problem. I think.

1. The relay when enough voltage/amps comes in starts to flash the bulbs.

2. If the bulb is busted, it won't flash anymore, I'm trying to figure out if too much voltage is passed or not enough is passed so the relay "sticks" on giving us the indication that the bulb is bad. AKA the dash turn signal light stays on solid letting us know a bulb is out.

Am I crazy or did I understand that video correctly?

That video describes the old school, mechanical blinker relay. Without enough amp draw (current flow), the relay will either hyper blink or not at all. That is your problem with your OLD relay.

Your new relay will work with any amount of amp draw, or none at all. But, it will never give you an indication that you have a bulb or LED burnt out.

Yeah I located that too, downloaded it and it's for a Dodge newer than 1997 as all the pictures and references and diagrams are different.

I agree, check that coil, something is causing your wires to fault, they don't just keep going bad.

Yeah something is wrong with the mobile site here. I use a samsung note 4. Each time I go to a thread, hit the reply button(without logging in first), I then have to hit the login button and that works fine, logs me in. I notice that the reply screen comes right back after login and I go ahead and type my reply and submit. The issue is that after login, the reply must be using history or something because it doesn't reply to the issue i was on before login, it goes back to the thread i "last replied to" on my phone...

Its getting annoying...

I'm a server/network engineer by trade so i really get frustrated when I understand the issue but can't fix it...
