It's not strange at all, Water freezes @ 32*. I like the non mixed antifreeze that way if i have more water then freeze i can adjust it accordingly. Hard to that with mixed.

It's cheaper that way too. $10 for a gallon of half and half or $12 for a gallon of antifreeze and a gallon of distilled water that will get you two gallons of 50/50.
