My oil pressure gauge seems to drop randomly, i think when it idles mostly, and shoots back up. It is getting annoying with the beeping from the gauge. The guy that sold me the truck said he fixed the issue but it was not resolved on the gauge itself. I dont know if its just bull**** what he is saying and I need to fix something else or if theres a way to get around the annoyance of it. The truck also burns a little oil and the pressure seems to drop the most when I need to put oil in it as well as the truck smoking a lot when starting in the morning but fine afterwards. Please help, thanks

 

Replace the oil pressure sensor. It's a common problem with these trucks.

 

I don't know if this changes anything, but it seems to be only when the rpms drop below 1000 and the oil pressure stays at 0 until the rpms go over 1000 then it never happens

 

Yeah, that's the sensor. Common problem.

 

Be sure to check your oil, JUST in case you're burning more than you thought you were.

 

Havnt changed it yet, cant find a socket deep enough to change it

 

Neither could I, so, I just used channel-locks.... it was a pain, but, it worked.
