Bad IAC???
Hi all, I'm new to this forum (I came from a different dodge forum). Anyways I've recently had problems with my 1997 Ram 1500 2wd with the 5.2 engine. The problem I'm getting is when I make very slow turns or slow down at a slow pace, my truck stalls. About a month ago I was having trouble starting the truck after it has been warmed up and been sitting for like 5-30 mins, but once it got started it was fine. Also when I come to a stop at a stoplight the rpms drop and the car act like it wants to stall but it comes back up to normal and doesn't stall. Yesterday the truck stalled 4 times when I was attempting to back into my driveway, and when I was backing out of a parking space at the auto part store to buy a new IAC. Yesterday when it kept stalling it would be hard to start back up. Also I'd like to mention that about 3 weeks ago I got a check engine light for P0307 (cylinder 7 misfire). Last year around this time I had a multi cylinder misfire (including cylinder 7) but I put all new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and replaced the Plenum gasket (all done in feb of 2016) which fixed the problem, and I haven't had a check engine light until about a month ago. The check engine light is currently off and has been off for about 2 weeks which I find bizzare since the truck is stalling. I'm wondering if this is all due to a bad Intake Air Control valve (IAC), since I searched the problem on google and many people have cited that it's due to a bad IAC. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam

Likely a dirty throttle body/bad IAC. Wouldn't hurt to check out the throttle body, clean as necessary, and see if that doesn't help. If the truck still stalls, replace the IAC, but, get one from the dealer. The aftermarket fellers aren't always as good as they should be. Regardless of which way you go, be sure to reset the PCM after whatever repair. It needs to learn the new part.

On the off chance that the IAC doesn't take care of the problem, I would also re-check the torque on all intake manifold bolts. The misfire code could be pointing to a very slight vacuum leak that is causing your intermittent problem. I dont believe a faulty IAC could the cause of a misfire code...but I could be mistaken.
I had a similar issue after my airgap install - a couple of the bolts eventually worked themselves loose enough to cause an intermittent misfire and trouble idling.

If you leave it disconnected while you are playin' with other stuff, you will be all set.
