I don't think it's a common issue, but if a compressor fails, that needs to be changed, along with a thorough flushing of the system. It is the only filter in the whole system that I'm aware of.

With my 97, the orfice was a dirty sob to get out, but i was glad i did it. I'm not sure how the air was moving at all. It sits pretty deep in the tube and was wedged with all the junk accumulated on it.
i have a 1998 dodge ram 1500
i am needing to know where exactly the orifice tube goes.
This picture is very helpful
this is for a 1999 - would you know if it is the same place ?
