It might be the multifunction switch, as you stated. It's got the wipers and brights and hazards all in one unit. What I did, cause I had no tail lights, I bought the switch, about 70 from oreilly i think, about 50 from rock auto, and took the old switch out and plugged the new one in. If it fixes your problem, then your good to go, but if it doesn't, then you can still return the switch. Just don't beat on it too hard.

If I remember there are three ties screws holding the colum covers on, then you need a security torx screw bit to get the switch off. Just 2 screws, then remove wiring cover, and take out the 10mm bolt in the center of the connector, (I think it's the size, don't quote me), and then pull the connectors straight out. Plug new one in and see if it works.

Just buy a security but set, like 10 bucks at menards or any hardware store. They come in handy on future repairs too.

Check the back of the headlight switch first. They are notorious for heating up, and melting.

Yeah do the headlight switch first. I went to the multifunction switch first because I didn't think the blikers could be affected by the headlight switch. But I guess there could be weirder things

Yeah. Take it out and remove the plug from the back if the switch. Check for any melting of the plastic on both the switch and connector. If there's is any, replace it. (We love pics too)

To access the headlight switch, remove the ash tray, and pull out the cup holder. Then remove the 2 screws on either side of the cup holder, and then it pulls out, and then the same on the ash tray bracket. Next Grab the black dash bezel through the cup holder space, and pull it out. Tilt the steering wheel down and put the transmission in "1" if it's automatic. Work the dash bezel out and there you will see three screws on the headlights switch.

I had that problem once. If none of the above works look to see if you have anything plugged into the cigarette lighter. Thats a longshot but thats what appeared to be the problem with mine. I had one of those cheap usb adapters, i removed it, and its been 2+years without any problem.
