Just shootin' from the hip here...
Thanks for responding. I don't get an overdrive off dash lights at startup. Haven't since I've had the truck. I DID get a few random overdrive off dash light ups while driving though. And I'm pulling overdrive issue codes so.....

OD solenoid is on the tranny I assume? Or contained within tranny housing?

That's all fine and dandy...where is the switch though. That a the issue here. And the code is not useless. It shows I have overdrive and have no switch! How the f*** does that work?
I need to be able to turn it off son I can tow without transmission carnage.

I'd be curious to check the ID numbers on the transmission.

I'll add it to my list of things that has been suggested to me to try or check. Thanks for the response.

And that is the million dollar question..... I find it highly unlikely you have a three speed auto in there, so, at some point in the vehicles history, something changed. The switch is supposed to be in the end of the shift lever, your, most obviously, is not.... I can't really think of any reason why someone would change it out.... that's just silly.

According to theory, the O/D switch has its very own connector on the steering column. Two wire connector, Orange with a white trace, and Black with Light Green trace.

Wild stab in the dark here.... you will likely find the dash harness side connector, but, the column side connector will be nowhere to be found.

I've never gotten a flash upon startup either, maybe its just a quick thing? I don't know, just thinking out loud.

Solenoid is in the trans, yes.

Maybe the wire is chafed, intermittantly shorting, causing the intermittant OD light.

Still thinking out loud here...

Take a look under the column, and see if the wiring is even there. Wonder if someone just changed the **** on the shifter? They seem to be available from various sources.... (just the ****, or even the whole shifter....)

I plan to rip the column open this evening after work. The **** itself deffo does not come off. Not without some crunching noises anyways...
