The truck only has 102,000 original miles because the guy that I bought it from, started to have tranny problems because he put the wrong tranny fluid so he parked it and would start it every so often

Wrong fluid can destroy seals....... Might want to have the trans pressure tested.

Default Transmission problems I have had, transmission problems I no longer have.

Just putting this out there for anyone that has a 90s model Dodge ram. I have a 98 with 142000 original miles on it and I bought it with transmission issues that we're primarily not shifting into a higher gear.because it was an original owner and had been garage kept its whole life with very low mileage I knew that the transmission could not have gone out Shirley.well I was right which component fixed it I am not exactly sure but it cost me about $300 to replace two switches inside the transmission pan, along with two switches outside. And it worked. One of the switches in the pan is called the governor, and one is called the input speed control unit. There is also a speedometer speed control switch on the outside driver side of the transmission and there is also a temperature in speed switch a couple of them were around $20 a piece in a couple of them were around a hundred a piece I didn't want to take the truck apart a gazillion times trying to solve the problem so I just went and purchased all four switches and transmission gasket filter kit and done it all in the truck drives like a dream... I'm sorry I don't know exactly which item fixed it but happy to have spent $300 to do a very what I believe great deal to the truck took me about an hour and a half to do it all.. I hope this helps someone...
