They are all pretty much the same tool, just made by different folks, and maybe a slightly different configuration. My take on it: So long as it works, get the cheap one. Not like you are going to be doing these on a regular basis.

Thanks again for taking the time to chime in Heyyou. I just want to be sure the tool REALLY simplifies the job, especially the passenger side, which looks like its the hard part. There is a good article on pavement sucks detailing this job. This guy just used a socket and a hammer to get the driver side seal in. The passenger side is where he had to rig a tool together. The tip on how to get the hubs off is great , as is the carrier removal tip. Although Im not exactly certain how that one will work. I get the wedging a shirt in there and turning the pinion gear til the carrier pops out part, but Im unsure how the ratchet turns the pinion ? I guess I will figure it out once I get in there. Definently going to do the hubs while Im in there. Was just hoping to find that 40% off advance auto code. The Bllistein shocks look awesome, but with all that im spending to do this other stuff, and I still need tires, I thought this might be a good place to save a few bucks. Gonna get the monroe heavy duty gas magnums, should keep me from bouncing around like im in the boat.

Just like any job, having the "right tool for the job" definitely makes life easier.

As for the shirt, when you roll the carrier, it will suck the shirt between the gears, (provided you turn it the right way.... ) and force them apart. With the caps off, it'll pop the carrier right out, and won't damage the gears.

My Dad always says, "There's nothing different between me and a pro mechanic except that he has the right tool."

I ordered the seal and tool combo from quad 4x4. The tool just looked better made than the others, plus it includes the seals and the cad gasket, which will be helpful. Havent ordered the other stuff yet, was hoping someone could help with the advance auto 40% discount code. They almost got me for $10 more at quad 4x4 for the instruction book they offer, large pages with color photos. I figured the manual heyyou linked me to should be enough. I think I have a pretty good idea of how it will go. The carrier has me a bit nervous, but I think that T shirt tip will get me through it. The weight is of some concern. Im a lil guy ! I will figure it out. But this discount coupon is another matter !! Anyone ?? Thanks

You can use the code "Save" online, or in store, for a 25% discount from Advance. That's the best I got. Good through March 12th though.... (tomorrow....)

Timken hubs ordered from rock auto. Spicer u Joints and monroe shocks from advanced auto. 170 for the hubs, another 100 for the joints and shocks. Im in $360 so far, Really not too bad. Considering what Id pay a shop for all of this stuff. I bet the shops would charge around 1200 minimum, for all these parts installed. Seals, hubs, shocks, u joints. Best price I was quoted; 800 just to do the seals...at a shop 2 hours away !

Damn bro, I'm sorry I didn't chime in sooner. I stuck in VA with the military right now and things have been hectic. The code for advance auto is for $40 dollars off of $100. The code is TRT41. The way to do it is if you need 2 parts that are $80 a piece is to make 2 separate orders. Lets say hubs are 80 dollars. Order 1 and say some oil to bring it up to just about 100 dollars and check out. Then do it again. Its great cause you pick parts for 100 and only pay $60. Maybe take the stuff back to advance and do it online with the code. You would be getting the hubs for $120. Again, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
