I think I touched on this in my post a little. But really what do you expect from a auto locker? Doesn't the name indicate that it will lock up on you? I think what people need to do is learn how the locker works then maybe there will be less confusion. As HeyYou just posted a Detroit locker locks up under power PERIOD. Anytime you are on the go pedal it is locked up. When you get off the go pedal it will unlock. When going around a corner as you let off the go pedal the Detroit will lock and unlock.

I had a Detroit in the rear of my TJ for 4 + years and loved it. It was always fun to get someone in my Jeep who didn't know about how a Detroit locker worked. So I would be going around a corner and I'd get back on the go pedal when the locker would engage with a LOUD BANG and the back of my Jeep would wag a little. I'd look at whoever was in the passenger seat with this worried look on my face and go "Man what the heck was that noise? I hope I didn't break something!!" I'd wait as long as I could then start laughing and then I'd explain what the noise was. It was always good for a laugh.

My point is people need to understand how something works before they install it in their rig.

The only thing that would be funnier is if you let someone else drive it and freak out when it happened.

Great input from Wildman, Nicraage, dbbd1, brandon, and PR1AWRet given their direct experience.

What comes to mind with these auto-lockers coupled with your build of 35" tires, 4.56 gears AND the monster 408 engine!!!

The torque will apply so quickly that feathering the throttle may not have any effect at all. Everything said about street-ability is true and becomes immediately noticed in turning.

Having said that and economy reasons, I'd suggest a Truetrac, plus I don't know your wheeling style as that is a big part of the equation here. Let us know what you decided though. Everyone's build and usage is variable.
