I am curious about this. do you mean the 5 lug hubs with the brake calipers?

Because I had to buy an expensive adapter that was difficult to find, and then put spacers on my rear to run my 5 lug wheels.

Personally, I like the trutrac due to the fact that it is a gear-driven LSD. No, friction modifiers necessary, no clutch packs to wear out.

I'm on 37's. I was happy with the trutrac, you just have to learn the gas to get both tires grabbing. With the detroit/yukon, I feel a huge difference (improvement) climbing up rocks and steep dirt hills. The downside of the full locker is steering. I ran about two weeks ago with the new full locker, and there were several times I couldn't turn my steering wheel even with someone helping me. I had the upgraded steerign box from psc on, but not yet installed the ram assist. I have my PSC assist on, but I haven't tested it offroad yet.
Synopsis, without a ram steering assist trutrac is is the better option.

Having a Detroit in the front can be a fun adventure sometimes. What you will have to do is learn how to feather the throttle to get the locker to unlock enough so that you can turn. The other way is to see if the TeraFlex two low for a NP231 can be made to work in your transfer case. Then you pop the transfer case into 2lo and steer where you need to go and then pop it back into 4lo. This is part of the reason why guys have twin sticks in their rigs. With a full locker in the front axle you will just plow forward when the locker is locked up. And a Detroit is always locked when it is UNDER POWER so the only way to get it to unlock is to let off the throttle. Or take it out of 4wd. That is why I suggest the 2lo kit. You might just have to buy it and try to make it work or copy what they did.

On 38" TSL SX tires with my PCS hydro assist I can turn the tires or walk myself out of a bind. You'll enjoy the added steering ability with the kit installed. And we need to see that monster in action now.

But that isn't what the OP was asking about. Thanks for your useless input.

This! If you look on youtube there is a video of a guy that has one and he had a an ice storm that put ice on everything. He drives his ram up the driveway so you can see how well the trutrak works.

Ahhh found it! fast forward to 420 to see the ram.

if you choose to go with the detroit locker, keep in mind that it changes the behavior of the rear end in a drastic way. i hear ppl say it will lock those axles together at random times when you may not expect it and put you in a tough spot. i didnt see anyone post about this known issue with that locker, maybe wouldnt hurt to do a google search on it

The detroit locker is indeed predictable, if you apply power, it locks. If you are turning, on ice, or other equally low traction surface, yep, it can get exciting. Just have to get used to the new behavior.
