Sure can't hurt. The grease might be dielectric grease..... it's put in there to keep water out of the connections. You can get it at most any parts store. (and it's probably a good idea to have some in there.)

Is that the 8-pin connector? We might have the plug and a pigtail from a junkyard around here.

It's basically just silicone (just straight silicone) lube. A plain silicone o-ring lube will work just dandy.

OK, update : after work i've cleaned the connectors, didn't do them all.. just the big one..
Drove it for a while, seems like it shifts somewhat normal for now, BUT still don't have 4th gear I believe, higher rpm than the previous tranny...
75mph at 3000-3500 rpm... that's not how it should be right ? The previous tranny was like 85mph at 2500 rpm..

i'll look tomorrow how many pins the connector was, and clean the others aswell.

btw not suré if I said, but didn't renew the filter, or took off the pan... normally it's in good shape, done it a year or so ago, no miles on it , car stood still since! But I have the gasket & filter for it , so i'll do it coming days..

do you think I can cause some damage driving it? Only to work, say 10-15 miles max a day?
seems to "work good" I mean doesn't stutter or shake or noises ....

Thanks alot guys

What year is your truck, and what year was the donor truck?

And there is the problem. The electronics changed in 2000. You need to swap over the governor pressure sensor, solenoid, and retainer. Should solve your problems.

I suspect you will also have to change the internal trans harness, I *think* the connectors are different. (but, not 100% on that....)

So this morning i took it to the trannyshop. On the Road to it, it took 4th gear! The owner of the shop took it for a ride, said it drives well.. don't know how this can solve itself, maybe something on that connection, didn't touch it anymore since i've cleaned it..

In the trannyshop they gave me a price around 1800€ for a rebuild of the tranny, Will be with fortified Kevlar plates... Any opinions? Any good mods out there for the tranny?

You don't need a rebuild, you need the correct electronics in the trans first.
