Build what you got. Easier than trying to stuff a V10 in it. (that has no aftermarket support, btw)

This.

While the 8.0 is a torque monster, there is very little aftermarket support for it. You can find headers in various flavors, and that's about it. Cams are becoming extremely scarce, except for the custom grinds... and those are expensive.

In stock trim, the 8.0 is 310 hp, 450 tq. It wouldn't be too difficult to get to 300+ horsepower from your 318, but, for the same money, you could get higher by swapping in a 360... or stroking a 360 to 408, or higher.... Parts are plentiful, not quite as expensive..... and the 360/stroker would be a direct swap. (with a custom tune.)

That said.... To transplant the 8.0 into your truck, you would need the engine, trans, PCM, wiring harness, probably the harness for in the cab as well, depending on what year your truck is, and what year the engine is... If you are 4 wheel drive, you would also need the t-case, driveshafts... I suspect the front axle wouldn't really care for all that additional weight up front, (if you have one) and I am not sure how long the 9.25 would last behind an 8.0...... especially if you have a heavy foot......

If you want something with an 8.0, I would recommend just buying one with that motor already in it. Much easier.... probably cheaper too.
