Loss steering whats this broken peice ?

Default Loss steering whats this broken peice ?

I drive a 97 dage ram 1500 5.9 with 4 wd Going down the road and then i lost powersteering can barely turn the wheel but i found a broken clamp with a rod welded onto it looks like it is supose to go onto tie rod adjustment sleeve any ideaa is this the problem or could it be something else ?

Was alos thinking it might be something inside my steering gear box

That is a "keeper." It goes into the opening (the jaw opening, if you will) on the clamp for the drag link adjustment. It keeps it from turning, loosening or tightening.

so this couldnt be the reason i loss steering any idea or should i just start by replacing the steering gearbox which has been leaking for a while

Do the wheels still turn when you turn the steering wheel but its just really difficult? Power steering pump might have went out.

Yeah but im pretty sure the pumps good no noises and i removed the high pressure hoses from the gear box and it waspushing it pretty good my gear box was going bad so im going to start with replacing that any ways

Pull the serpentine belt off, and try and pull the pulley straight forward from the p/s pump. Mine sheered off the shaft... everything stayed in play, and under no-load conditions, it actually worked, but, trying to drive it? Holy crap, you better have some SERIOUS arm muscles.
