Blasters require a large amount of compressed air volume to work properly. Be sure to match the compressors output to the needs of the blaster so that you won't be disappointed with the way it performs.

What abrasive media did you use? I'm thinking I'm going to buy the blaster you suggested (I already have a compressor), then doing a coat of por-15 with either bed liner or black paint over that.

I use the black diamond abrasive. It's basically welding spatter, that someone swept up, but, it works GREAT, doesn't clog the gun, (use the fine stuff) and it won't give you silicosis either. I get mine at TSC, they have it in 40 pound bags for like 8 bucks.

I used the Glass Bead. If I were to do it again, I'd go with the stuff HeyYou was talking about.

HeyYou,
What protective gear do you use when you sand blast? I wear a blasting hood and an air mask, but I'm sure there are better setups.

I had the cool hat, with the cover that came down to my neck, but, I sweated my **** of using it, and the lens would fog, and I wouldn't be able to see what I was doing.... So, I got some safety googles, and a dust respirator, and just take a shower when I am done for the day, and wash all the crap off of me. (and, as I have hair down to my shoulders, that can be challenging....) I sometimes wore a knit cap as well, to keep the crap out of my hair. Leather gloves, depending on what I was working on, and maybe even a jacket, if it was truly nasty......

When I did the mower deck for my gravely, I just used the googles and mask, and did my blasting outside.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I sweat like crazy with the hood on, may just get a better air mask and goggles.
