Default Changing rear end

So I'm looking to change my rear end I've got a 97 2wd cummins and I'd like to make the rear axle like 4.10 posi but I'm just not sure what to look for if anyone more familiar with this could maybe tell me some links or products that would work I would greatly appreciate it

What model rear is under the truck now? You should be able to tell by looking at the options sticker under the hood of the truck. It should tell you what differential is installed and what gear ratio is in it. From there, you can either find another rear with 4.10 posi or you might want to have someone install 4.10 gears and a posi unit into your existing rear. Weigh the costs/options and go from there.

For example, my truck has a Dana 60 rear in it with 3.54 gears and it was non-posi with drum brakes. I was also looking to upgrade to a 4.10 posi rear, since I have installed 285/75/16 tires on the truck. Locally, I found a good used Dana 60 rear with 4.10 gears and a posi unit and disc brakes. I plan to swap out my rear for the 4.10 rear soon.
