99 318 ram stalling
recently I have put a new 318 into my ram. when I did my test drive everything worked perfect until I slowed down. when I am coming to a stop or slow turn the truck will go to low rpms and will either stall or come close to stalling. I have tried replacing the IAC, TPS, and MAP sensors and I'm still having the same problems. I'm thinking about replacing the sparkplugs and wires nest dose anyone have any ideas what it may be? thank you for your time
Did you clean the throttle body when you had the IAC out? Does it only do it when its warm? Or cold? Did you reset the PCM after changing various things? (just disconnect the battery for 10 minutes or so.)
yes I did clean the throttle body I clean the port where the IAC goes and also the whole area where the butterflies open and close but I haven't reset the pcm ill try it and get back with you later
Mine used to do this after disconnecting the battery to do various jobs/projects on it. After a couple starts, it was fine again. Mind you, I have a stick so coming to an intersection was a three legged dance with only two feet to keep it running and braking.
Then one day, I replaced the MAP sensor since I had read it helped the Durangos with mileage. While it didn't do anything for mileage, it cured the stalling after battery disconnect.

I'm still having problems I even replaced spark plugs and wires [they where bad anyway] and now no matter what speed I'm going the moment I take my foot off the gas it starts to stall . could a fuel filter or pump cause this
If it runs fine otherwise, it likely isn't a fuel problem. Either the IAC you got is bad, slow, or simply poor quality, or something else is going on. Are you getting any codes?

The distributor has nothing to do with ignition timing. That is all controlled by the PCM. The PCM gets it's clue for ignition from the crank position sensor, that is down behind the passenger side cylinder head. If the shaft in the distributor is sloppy, then replacing it isn't a bad idea, but, if you are suffering from improper ignition timing, or no spark at all, changing the distributor isn't going to make any difference at all.
One time after replacing my plugs and wires, it ran fine but was stalling when letting off the gas which was normal after battery disconnect but it didn't improve. Pulled her over to look it all over since I was distracted during the process and might have missed something. Even though I've done full tune ups on my truck a half dozen times since 2001, I had switched 2 wires. Felt like an idiot but that was it. No more stall.
So double and triple check everything you've done before dumping more money. And let us know what trans you have. I've been assuming its a stick like mine but torque converters can cause stall problems too.
