What happened to the old case?

 

so just to update i swapped over the the drive gear for the vss and the tail housing with no problems worst part was getting the c clips off the shafts will see if everything works when i re install it and im not exactly sure what was wrong with the old one havnt completely opened it up but grinded like hell and wouldnt engage into 4wd
