So my buddy has a 5.2 Magnum he's selling and there's a 2000 ram with no engine in it. Perfect for a swap! Catch is the previous engine was a 5.9 Magnum. I am wondering if it will fit together with no problem? The truck has a tranny just no motor. I'll also add the donor engine is from a 93 dakota and the Ram is a 01.

Reason: Adding info
That '93 motor was from an ODB-1 computer system and engine harness. The 2001 is ODB-2. It would likely take some creativity to make that swap work properly.

So is it relatively easy or should I just go with an OBD-2 engine for simplicity?
The newer truck isn't going to need EGR, so you could just plug that off. The older motor will have an extra coolant temp sensor as well, which you can just ignore. I don't *think* any of the other sensors report different data... so, as long as they electrical connectors will plug in, you should be ok.
