2001 ram 1500

CC will turn on and set but it will only set for a second and then stop pulling. Vacuum lines and reservoir appear to hold a vacuum.

What should be my next move?

Check your brake light switch on the pedal, trust me.

 

I can certainly replace the switch. I pulled the servo out and hooked up a vacuum pump then actuated the valves to let the vacuum in. My question is does the diaphragm hold a vacuum? It appears to be pulling in outside air. If it relies on a lot flow from the reservoir to compress the spring then that might explain why the vacuum pump doesn't cut it.

 

Yes, it should hold a vacuum.

No problem. Checking the servo was just a shot in the dark. I don't think any of the stores around here carry one so I may have to order to see if I'm right.

 

It would appear I did have a leak. Will update thread when the new servo arrives as I hate threads with no conclusion. Thanks.

 

I got the part put in today. Doesn't seem to set at speeds under 50. Perhaps I didn't keep a steady speed or a speed sensor? However it works at highway speeds which is all I wanted.

 

There is some kind of calibration to do, it's in the service manual.

 

And, is your speedo accurate? Most cars will not set usually below 35-40.
