I am trying to figure out how much my 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 is lifted i am new to lifted trucks and so far all i can tell is that it has had a thicker leaf spring added on

 

Does the truck have a lift block under the springs? Also, check your body mounts and see if they look extra tall. If they do, you may have a body lift or a body lift on top of a suspension lift.

 

Keep in mind, the trucks came from the factory with three-inch blocks under the springs.

 

I can't make out the springs real well. Could you zoom in some more please haha

Ram 1500s came with either 3 or 4-leaf packs on TOP of the overload spring, which is what you see at the bottom. You have a 3-leaf pack. Up front is a clear 2" level spacer. That's all I see. Many people mistake these trucks for having lifts when compared to newer low rider "trucks."

 

The main reason i am trying to figure this out is it needs new shocks and i don't know if it can still run stock shocks or if it needs longer shocks

 

Ramman18 so what your saying is that the leaf springs are stock and the truck just has a 2" leveling kit on it

 

Yeah, you can use stock length shocks. They'll be fine.

What? You don't care for the buckboard ride?

 

Yes, it looks like a stock ride with leveling up front. While you can run stock shocks in front, I would order the 2-3" lift shocks so you never have to worry about bottoming out. In the rear, the stock shocks are already plenty long. I believe they use stock part numbers up to 4 or even 5 inch in the rear.

But I highly recommend something either OEM or high end aftermarket like Bilstein or M95s. AVOID HYDRO SHOCKS LIKE THE PLAGUE.
