Bearing failure caused my wheel to fall off while I was driving.. Help needed.
Nothing is supposed to rotate on the spindle itself, so, minor damage isn't really an issue.
May just require patience.... Cut, charge the battery, cut, etc.
Yeah, I've got it so the bearing remnant will turn freely on the spindle... but I cant get it to pull off, it has zero movement away from the steering knuckle.. but it will spin now..I have no idea how to get his thing off.
Drift? I've just been trying to hammer my flathead screwdriver between the bearing and steering knuckle but It won't go in, I got the bearing itself cut all the way through except where it sits against the back wall of the spindle. Just hammer harder in there?
Hmm, I have no idea how to replace a spindle... Is it a simple job? what kinda tools do you need?
It wasn't something I had the time, skill set, or confidence to fix, so I got all the parts and had a shop do it. The chewed up parts damaged my spindle, so I went through bearings pretty quickly. I had to replace them probably four times in six years. I found a used spindle on LKQ.
