fabtech vs skyjacker
I want to lift my 98 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2 longbed 5-6 inches and was wondering which was the better lift out of these two brands. I know i want to lift the rear of the truck with leaf springs instead of the block method. I know that the fabtech includes the shocks while the skyjacker doesnt. Which is the best bang for the buck. Take into consideration that this is a daily driver to. any info on the subject will be greatly appreciated

Fabtech makes damn nice lifts, Skyjacker has nice initial quality, but springs sag quickly.... RUMOR has it the springs have a lifetiem sagging warranty with proof of purchase...
I actually kinda like the Superlift 5-6" kit. I have the rough country 3" and love it, the 5 is even nicer..

i am running the skyjacker 5 inch and love it. ive had the fabtech 6 inch on my truck and it sucked complete a#@. i knowplenty of guys that run SJ lifts and have never had any sagging issues. If you take cars of your truck and dont just absolutely abuse the crap out of it you will love the SJ lift. Right now im running the 5 inch with 35 Super swamper SSRs, MT classic locks and 4.56 gear ratio and i never have a single problem out of it. Fabtech lifts are good for Jeeps and chevys but thats it.

you can ask 01classicram on here he has seen my truck in person he can tell you how it looks.

Hmmm
I have no idea why people are slamming fabtech but skyjacker is the way I will go in the future. I dont like the powder coated blue look of the fabtech parts. Although I have a blue truck Im not a fan of blue liftkit parts. Yes I can repaint them but I'd be too excited and bolt it on right away. As for a lift Im going for the 5 inch lift next summer. I already braced myself to regear the front and rear ends. I also braced myself to buy a little beater accord as my daily driver to work. Its sad but with the 10mpg I'll be getting the dodge will now be my weekend and foul weather driver. Im very intrested in making a sweet truck but with rising fuel prices (which are going down thank-god) you really have to think long and hard when you do something to your truck that makes MPG worse.

I think if I am correct you can get your mpg back to 13-15 if you go with the 4.10 gears with your current tire size.
Seems like 3.55's with 33's cause you to fall out of your powerband a tad. I think a few members in here are running 33's with 4.10's Maybe its 4.11 but Im sure you get the point.

i had a 99 dodge 5.9L with 3.55 and 33in. tall tires and my truck down shifts on ever single hill in the state of texas i just bought 4.10 gears and it doesnt down shift near as much as it used to and i got 3 mpg more.

Actually, I get 10 mpg NOW with 33's and a 3" kit, but fully plan to do gears, tires and taller springs for the 5"....
