1998 Ram 3500 ABS issue
i have a 1998 dodge 3500 dually. my problem is with the ABS system. The ABS light is on always since I've owned the truck. it sat for 2 plus years before I got it from the first owner 2 years ago. brakes were in bad shape rotted lines and warped rotors from sitting. I replaced calipers rotors and ABS wheel bearing. I've replaced the rear ABS sensor. light is still on.
The problem I experience is a pulsating or vibration when braking. this comes and goes? many times when I come to a complete stop when I release the brakes they hold till I accelerate.
when I turn the key on I hear and feal the motor on the ABS set up under the hoodabove the drivers side wheel. I believe the problem lies with this unit in part or whole.
please help
Andy

So, you have four wheel ABS, and the system actually tests when you first start the truck. That's the way it should be. The light staying on, however, is not. The problem becomes, with 4WAL, there are WAY to may possible issues to even begin to troubleshoot the problem, without being able to read the codes. Some parts stores will do this for free. See if there are any nearby.

I didn't notice the fan spin when the key is turned on until after inreplaced the rear ABS sensor so I may have multiple problems that I will be chasing. I have a friend with a nice snap on scanner. The local dodge place wants $160 to scan it. I'll have to scan it with my friends unit and see what it says.
thanks

There is a computer connection under your steering column, If you ground out pin 13, located lower right, count 1-xx on top row left to right and same on bottom till you get to 13, ground that pin temporarily and it will give you the ABS code that you can look up. would be the 1st thing to start troubleshooting. My light stays on my 94, I've done everything and am just living w/ the light. But grounding this pin temp, the abs will flash codes and will save you the $160.
