Wonder why the trans won't go to 4th with the 5.9 pcm?

That's why. Sensors in the trans changed in 2000. The PCM is getting wrong info, so, no O/D for you.

So then if I get a correct year pcm for a 5.9 1500 it should work good for me then?

K good to know. I'll call the wrecking yard today and find a good used one. After installing the proper vin the abs and airbag lights were still on. Could be from the no bus message/wrong year pcm I imagine?

K so I just got a used pcm into the truck and everything is working as it should! Thanks sooooo much for the help. The only issue I'm left with now is every once in a while the engine will "chug". It only ever does it once and only every 5 minutes or so and only lasts for half a second. It's been there since I swapped the engine. Any ideas? I'm thinking crank sensor or possibly distributor pickup. Is it true that these trucks do not like aftermarket crank sensors? Cuz i had to replace mine with a napa sensor. Thx.
