Default tranny problems

I'm New to.all this but having problems with my 1999 1500 sport 4x4 was hoping some.one could help.. couple days ago I was driving.down the high way and my drive shaft stoped, bad u joint. Well once I got.it home and changed the u joints I drove it.around and it seems that first gear isn't working properly. Have to give it a Lot of gas to get it to move.. And if I manually put it in first gear and try to go it's like I'm pushing the gas and the break at the same time. I'm baffled any help would. E appreciated thanks

No not in 4x4, it's automatic tyranny and when I put the gear shifter all the way down into first gear the truck barely wants to move and soon as I let off the gas the truck stops like my foots on the break, but it's not

Jack up the rear, trans in neutral, and spin the back tires. Feel any binding there? (be sure and try and spin the driveshaft as well.)
