Default Different Tire Size on Stock Rims and Ride hight?

I am in the market for tires and was wondering what tire sizes are "fit-able" with a stock truck with stock rims and ride hight. I have been doing some messing around on tire converting sites and have found that the 285/75/16 and the 305/70/16 tire sizes are close to the stock 265/75/16 tire size.
So the question is will i have and trouble with rubbing or anything else?

This is on a 99 4x4 1500 (non sport)

Thanks Guys!
Eric

Both of the tire sizes you are looking at are 7.5% taller, how is that close? It only puts the actual ride height up a little over a half inch though.

I have the 285/75R16's on mine and there's no rubbing. PCM has been reprogrammed with the tire size so the speedo compensates as well.

Best of luck!

I agree. I had 285/75R16 on and there was no rubbing at all. I now have 305/70R16 and there is a little rubbing when I turn the wheels to locks and the suspension is flexing a little. I think I am going to get some 1/8" wheel spacers to take care of this problem.

You might also be able to run 295's with minimal rub. Just in case you didn't know, going with larger tires will negatively impact your gas mileage, and also your performance (will seem a little bogged down). If your running 265's now, 285's would probably not seem to much different performance wise, but 305's will.

Those 305s wont look as good on a stock 7.5 inch rim and arent recommended to run on them. The 285s do ok. If i was going the 305 route i'd get some 10 inch rims. Those tires are nearly a foot wide. Not sure when they changed the rims on the rams, but even if they are 8 or 8.5 inch rims, they'd be too narrow for me.

im also wondering about this topic...

my friend told me that i could easily run 31's on my 99 Ram 1500 4x4 Sport but the tires i want (Trxus) arent available in 31's. closest is 33's.... can i put 33's on my truck (preferably stock wheels) without lifting?

thanks in advance...

edit: im running 255/70/16's right now....
