Radio wiring question
I installed a pioneer AVH-3300NEX, NICE unit! Problem I'm having is when I turn to acc, I wait for all dash lights to go off and the fuel pump to prime and then maybe a second or 2 longer to crank... It's my ritual, if you will. The screen comes out during this time, but when I start the truck it loses power, screen goes back in and comes right back out because the truck is running at that point. I tried doing it faster and it still reboots it everytime.
I want it to stay on while starting. Anyone have ideas on how to accomplish this.

All accessories turn off in the ignition switch so full power can turn over the engine when in start position. Every vehicle always does this. You're just finding it annoying on the aftermarket head units, as did I. Mine took forever to start up anyway then like 5 seconds to come back to life. Good thing some tweeker stole it. I love the stock CD player as it reboots much faster, just has little umph for wattage.
Only way around it is to wire separate power to the head unit. The ignition switch has several settings and that's what powers the dash so you'd have to circumnavigate it.

Hopefully that's not too confusing to read, lots of information recalling and jumbling around in my head:P
Hey Brandon, I'm thinking of buying this radio for my 2nd Gen Ram. Looking at the dash, I worry that the flip up will interfere with the heat/air vents just above the radio slot. Is this a problem for your installation?
Thanks,
Larry

I wouldn't say I regret buying this radio, I've had for some time now. It was an impulse buy, I for some reason had to have the android radio. Anyway, onto your question it interferes with the cup holders, the fog light and o/d switches. But besides that, no other interferences. Keep in mind I have 97, in 98 they changed the dash. Yours may be different. Hope this helps
